Raised with Christ

This powerful message invites us to grapple with one of Christianity's most fundamental questions: if grace abounds where sin increases, why does our daily life matter after salvation? Drawing from Romans 6:1-14, we're challenged to understand that accepting Christ isn't just a ticket to heaven—it's a complete identity transformation. The passage reveals that through spiritual baptism, we've actually died with Christ and been raised to new life. This isn't wishful thinking or religious performance; it's the bedrock reality of our faith. Just as Abraham considered his body dead yet trusted God's promise, we must consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. The truth is liberating: sin is no longer our master. We're not called to white-knuckle our way through Christian living, but to recognize that our old self—the one identified with Adam—has been crucified. Our new identity is found in Christ's resurrection. This means we're no longer enslaved to patterns that once controlled us. Instead, we're instruments of righteousness, called to present ourselves to God for His purposes. The challenge isn't about perfection, but about whose team we're playing for and whether we're actually in the game or just watching from the bleachers.
